Here is the good news about fall in San Francisco: the fog finally clears out, and September and October give us the warmest, sunniest stretch of the whole year. Everyone else is pulling out sweaters while we are finally getting real beach weather. Take advantage of it before the rain shows up in late October.

One free family event worth putting on the calendar: the Potrero Hill Festival on Saturday, October 17, from 10 am to 4 pm on 20th Street between Wisconsin and Missouri. It is a free neighborhood block party with live music, food, and plenty for kids to do. No tickets, no planning required, just show up.

The Board has approved a contract for the upcoming reconstruction project. An initial inspection of the property has been completed, and project plans are currently under review.

A townhall meeting will be scheduled in the near future to walk through the scope of work and answer questions. Please watch for additional communication with details on the townhall and the project timeline as they become available.

Get ready for a thrilling week of naval activities and celebrations!

Fleet Week returns to the northern waterfront this October, free and open to the public. The week includes ship tours, the Parade of Ships, Fleet Fest, and K9 showcases, with the Blue Angels airshow running October 4 through 12.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Expect significant traffic, street closures, and parking congestion near the waterfront, Marina, and Embarcadero throughout the week. Public transit is the easier option.
• The Blue Angels are loud. Practice flights and the airshow can be startling for pets, small children, and anyone sensitive to noise. If you have a nervous pet, plan to keep them indoors with windows closed during flight hours.
• Guest parking may be tighter than usual that week. Please remind visitors to follow posted parking rules.
